About Hamilton Books

Hamilton Books was launched as a new imprint of the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group in 2003. Potential authors include corporate leaders, politicians, scholars, war veterans, and family historians.

Our mission is to provide the opportunity for authors of serious non-fiction titles to obtain a top-quality publisher without the typical hassles and extreme selectivity enforced by other publishers. The Hamilton Books' publishing program is based on a model that offers a welcome alternative to traditional publishing.

When a manuscript is accepted at Hamilton Books, the author is offered a contract, which specifies a quantity for pre-publication purchase by the author to share a portion of the up-front production expenses. Hamilton covers all printing costs of all copies beyond the initial author order, no matter what the quantity. Through such an agreement, Hamilton Books is able to provide top-quality publishing services to a broad range of aspiring authors—from initial review, through design and production, to marketing and distribution of each title. Once the camera-ready copy is submitted and the pre-publication order has been placed, a title is published within three to four months. If you are unable to prepare camera-ready copy, Hamilton Books will typeset your manuscript at a minimal cost per page. Please see our in-house typesetting guidelines.

While other publishers may take years to reach a decision—let alone to publish an author's work—Hamilton's publishing process takes a matter of months. And Hamilton's experienced staff will work closely with you to ensure that your book is handsomely designed and manufactured, as well as reasonably priced. Upon publication, your book's information will be listed with the major distribution and wholesaler channels utilized by the publishing industry. We can accomplish this through our affiliation with the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, which is comprised of more than 20 publishing imprints and distributes both scholarly and trade titles worldwide.

As an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, all titles are incorporated in the organization's extensive and multifaceted marketing strategy. Your book will be listed and available for ordering on the Hamilton Books website as well as all other commercial online bookselling websites, including Amazon.com and B&N.com. Plus, if the subject of your book is applicable, your title will be displayed at appropriate academic conferences.
