Prospective Authors
Follow these five easy steps to submit a manuscript or proposal:
- You, the author, submit a proposal for your work by completing and
returning Hamilton Books' standard proposal questionnaire.
- Once your proposal is accepted, you will receive a letter requesting your
full manuscript for review. Upon receipt, your manuscript will be reviewed
by the Hamilton Books' editorial board for a final decision.
- If your manuscript is accepteda process that can take between four to
six weeksyou will receive a contract in the mail, along with a formal
letter of acceptance and some important marketing material. Once you have
signed the contract, return it to Hamilton Books to be countersigned.
Your file then becomes active.
- When your countersigned contract is returned to you, Hamilton Books will
send a complete information packet with details on how to format your
manuscript and how to obtain any necessary permissions. There will also be
instructions for including illustrations with your book, as well as some
handy sample pages for your reference.
- After your manuscript has been formatted, Hamilton's experienced
production editors will check it for last-minute corrections. We will
also design and prepare the title page and cover for your book, as well as
apply to the Library of Congress for cataloging and to the U.S. Copyright
Office for copyright. Your manuscript will be shepherded through the
remaining stages of the production process while the Marketing Department
begins planning promotion of your book.
In approximately three or four months from the submission of your formatted
text, your book will be printed, bound, and ready for purchasein just five
easy steps!
